Coming to us from the watchmaker Sinn is the U-Boat watch line – a watch for the senses. (Sinn is the German word for mind or the senses). The U-Boat watch definitely lives up to that and many other standards. The watch line also takes its name from its case – which is made from U-boat steel. Extremely rare is the new limited edition U-1942 Metal watch – limited to an offering of just 29. You won’t find one of these on eBay. As a matter of fact, you will hardly find any U-Boat watches there at all. And the good ones will run you two thousand dollars and more.

So, what to do – how are we going to get our U-Boat replica watch? Well there are several hundred available out there. Many of which are offered to buy by the folks at Dear Watch. We like the Automatics that are featured with “rose gold” cases. Perhaps the boldest and most macho looking are the Italo Fontana Quartz Chronographs in a PVD case. You could buy an original Eclipse – if you could find it – for over $ 7000. These replicas are available at just a fraction of that price. They are all large dials – 50 mm in diameter. The “deck step plate” design covering a quarter of the dial appears to be as exact and as intriguing as the original. This would appear to be the reason for the name of this line.
